For a while now I've quite fancied the idea of setting up my own web site to display some of my fish captures, in the hope of providing some inspiration to anyone who is considering fishing some of the waters that I've fished.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not God's gift to carping by any stretch of the imagination, so you're not going to see page after page of 40lb+ monsters. I'm mean, come on, this site's about Central Mids carping and if you're from this neck of the woods you'll know that fish that big only swim around in our day-dreams!
What you will find though are photos of some beautiful carp from some well known and some less well known lakes from in and around the Birmingham area.
I was born and bred in B'ham and spent my youth fishing the local cut and parks pools, and became hooked on carp fishing after seeing a copy of Big Carp #4 in my local tackle shop. The one with Damien Clarke and the Snake Pit common on the front cover. When I saw that fish I was hooked and I just had to try and catch myself one of those monsters (oh how naive). Anyway, years later and I'm still trying but not really getting any closer to that elusive childhood dream!
I caught my first double-figure carp in 1992 from Salford Park (below) and have been hooked on carp ever since.
I spend as many hours as I can in the pursuit of these creatures, but due to family and work commitments most of my fishing time is hours rather than days/weeks. So, other than Blackroot, these fish are the result of short session angling (12hrs max!), something which I've had to become quite good at!
Anyway, hope you enjoy the site, hope even more so that it might inspire you to go out and catch a few, and if you want to drop me a line about anything carpy please feel free.
Tight Lines
Mick
P.s. All the photos on this site are from old skool 35mm print that have been painstakingly scanned in, so please bear that in mind if some of them look a bit dodgy!
